He was b.1824 in Tennessee or South Carolina and d.1864 of wounds received at New Home Church, Georgia (southwest of present day Acworth, GA) while serving the Confederate Army. Married 1849 to Nancy A. Hatchett in Carroll County, TN. Moved to to Arkansas in 1850-51. Settled in the Richwoods area that is southwest of present day Mountain View, AR.

Leona Lemore Kemp of PA and MI

Leona Lemore KEMP, b.1861 in Pennsylvania (both parents born in PA), m. George Johnston Little in Allegheny Co., PA in 1883. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Michigan - in 1900 they were in Saginaw, Saginaw Co., MI. Two children are listed: Arthur S. b.1886 and Margarette b.1889.

Rachel Jane Kemp

According to my information, 2 brothers Burrell P. Kemp, Sr and Solomon Kemp migrated from Virginia to Wake Co, North Carolina then to Smith Co, Tennessee around 1810. Several of Burrell's children migrated to the adjacent county (Wilson) and some to Scott Co, Illinois. Burrell Jr. remained in Smith Co m. Elizabeth Jane Roveling/Romling/Rowland. Burrell, Sr was m. to Nancy Foster. He d.1827. Nancy d.abt 1835. Also a son of Burrell, Sr., Emanuel and his children migrated to Texas and California.

I am interested in any information related to these families, additional children for both Bailey and Harvey, info on Bailey's marriage to Judy Grinade or in contacting any one who is doing research on this group.

Thomas Kemp of Virginia

The National Archives in DCA have located military service records for two different Thomas Kemps from Virginia.

The first Thomas Kemp from Virginia served in 2nd Virginia State Regiment and was a private.
The 2nd Thomas Kemp(e) served in Virginia as a surgeon's mate.

For some reason they have not used the birth date that was given to them? Would anyone have any idea which one of these Thomas Kemps was the one who was born January 10th 1763; m. to Esther Maxey and was son of John Kemp and Mary Craighead?

John Camp/Kemp

John Kemp, a carpenter aboard the ship "Providence", d. 7 Jul 1693 while the ship was anchored in Chalrestown, Massachusetts harbor. Shortly afterward, the family of Samuel Kemp, Jr of Groton, Massachusetts was found in Charlestown. The family was "warned out" in 1697.

Who was John Kemp, and what, if any, connection was there with the Kemp's of Groton?

John Camp/Kemp

John CAMP/KEMP was born ca 1723, and married Anna Van Vorst, daughter of Jacobus and Anna (Beck) Van Vorst, and widow of Nicolaus Van der Bogaert, cira 1761. Four of their children were baptized in Schenectady, New York at the St George's Anglican Church. He resided in Guilford township in Ballston district, Saratoga County, NY in 1772 census, and was on the 1779 tax list for Ballston. He was a Private in the King's Rangers in 1780. The family migrated to Fredericksburgh, Addington County, Ontario, Canada as early as 1784. Some of the family eventually went to Norfolk County in Ontario.

All of my info on this family has been provided by Bob Kemp and Cheryl Taber who live in Ontario. Any info regarding this line would be appreciated.

I am a descendant of John Kemp, a revolutionary soldier who settled in Wayne Co, Georgia. He was the grandson of William Kemp, who first appears in Williamsburgh Twp, Craven Co, South Carolina in 1737. He moved to Bladen Co, North Carolina abt 1745. Dempsey M. Kemp

I have located a reference to Dempsey M. Kemp in one of the Virginia genealogical magazines. He was living in Portland, Oregon when he wrote a paragraph in the magazine. I have the page number, but not the date of publication or the name of the magazine. He mentions that he is a descendant of William Taylor of Lunenberg Co., Virginia and sends in copy of the bible of William & Martha Waller Taylor, which was then owned by Rev. Mary Ann Kemp

I've been very perplexed by my g.grandmother, Mary Ann Kempp. According to her tombstone, she was born in 1819 and died 5/29/1866 in DeKalb, Illinois. She and at least one child came to America in 1855. Have not been able to find out whether her husband, James Davey, came at the same time or earlier. A brother-in-law came from Old Buckenham, Norfold Co, England with his family at the same time. 1845 census of Norfolk Co. England lists a milliner by the same name as in Norwich. Have never been able to discover why she is buried under the name of Kempp instead of her married name unless she kept that for business reasons. Lots of unanswered questions, can anyone help?
