Dojo Aish-The Story
Dojo Aish was opened in 1998 by 5th Dan Sensei Jill B. Shames. It started as a Only-Girls group, with 15 girls (ages 8 to 16). By the third year, the Dojo moved to a bigger room, and a boys class was opened. The number of students doubled. Last year(2001-2) there were three classes in the Dojo: a Yellow to Orange class (girls), a  Blue to Brown class (girls) and a boys class. There was also a Leadership team that consist of Green belts and above. The team helped in teaching and in making special Dojo events as Beach workouts and Ninja Day (next year there will be a Brown belts team too). At this point( July 2002),  there are like 50 students in the Dojo, and we're still growing.
OUR SYMBOL
AISH is the Hebrew initials of Agudat Shorin Ryu-Shorin Ryu Association. It also means FIRE in Hebrew. The fist from Shorin Ryu Matsubayashi's symbol is passing over the fire-our tradition-to the next generation.

There have been many changes in our dojo sunce last year. We left the WMKA and are now under the supervision of George Donahue, a leading member of the Kishaba Juku branch of Shorin Ryu Matsubayashi karate. Sensei George came to Israel for just over a week. He taught in our dojo as well as in Shotokan, Goju Ryu and Matsubayashi dojos in Tel Aviv and Petach Tikva, and spent a Training Weekend with us in Mitspe Ramon.  Since his visit, we have been concentrating our efforts on "koshi practice"-a special brand of body mechanics that generally increases speed and power.
Another great change is our very own dojo, in which we train twice a week in separate classes for boys & girls.  Our training space is sponsored by the
Israel National Women's Martial Arts Federation.
