I think that the benefits of the Industrial Revolution cross cancel the consequences of the revolution.  The industrial revolution might have brought danger in the work place for the first time, unhealthy cities and mistreatment and exploitation of children for work.  But without those BAD THINGS todays society would never have some of the freedoms and rights that we have know.  The industrial revolution brought many new inventions that would later help create many inventions to come.  The industrial revolution also brought many new laws and ways of life.  It brought upon a greater middle class that could afford many things.  The industrial revolution also led to new laws.  It brought laws to protect children which stopped child labor.

Labor Unions were created out of the industrial revolution. With these labor unions workers were able to have rights in the work place.  These labor unions started a new wave of safer working condition.  The industrial revolution also brought great inventions like the steam engine, cotton gin and many other things that helped create faster and more efficient work.  The industrial revolution would also help children.  At the beginning of the industrial revolution children were forced to work in factories under dangerous working conditions.  But later on in the industrial revolution British law makers started to make laws that banned children from working in the factories which allowed them to become educated which rose the level of intellectual people of this time period much higher than the years before the industrial revolution.

All in all I believe that the industrial revolution had tremendous benefits to it even if it had downfalls to it.  Because with out the industrial revolution  many laws would have not been put in place, the technological advances that we have toady probably would have never happened and Workers would not have the labors unions and rights that they have today.

I agree with Kris about this topic.  He makes great references to what happened during the industrial revolution and what the revolution led to.  He writes about how the peasants of this time are still poor but working much harder and longer for virtually nothing.  He also talks about how children had to work in dangerous condition pulling carts around and crawling in to spots that even dogs couldnt fit in.  He also states how miners had horrible working conditions and air to breathe. I also agree with the part about how children even contributed to their families earnings even if they had very low pay.  I also agree with the fact that even though the industrial revolution was a time of hardship and pain for many of the poor people of the time it helped all of the technological advances after it come true. I believe that Kris has stated many good facts and I agree with every fact and statement given in his threaded discussion.
