| The Roman Empire first began to crumble after the death of Emperor Marcus Aurelius in 180. That ended the Pax Romana. 100 years after the death of Marcus Aurelius Rome went through some great political turmoil. During this time generals started to size power. During a 50 year period of this chaos 26 different emperors ruled Rome. Economic and Social trends made the crisis even worse. To pay for the army the government made higher taxes which made thing harder for business people. After many attacks by neighboring Germany it surrendered its territories. In A.D. 200 wars in East Asia also contributed to Romes fall. The attacks on Rome contributed greatly to its fall. Romes military helped its fall because the Roman legions of the time were not very disciplined and were not skilled enough to handle the on slat of attacks. Rome politics and economy also played a major part in Romes fall. The government contributed by becoming more oppressive and divided the empire during the attacks which made the government lose the support of the people. Even social problems contributed to the downfall of Rome. The people of Rome for many years before its down fall were worried about the Roman government and the decline in values. I do think that there is a relation between contemporary American culture and that of the Roman Empire towards its downfall. Both civilizations had and have to deal with a wide verity of ethnic groups. Both went through an economical and social change. But Rome had to deal with to many people indulging in pleasure and America has to deal with controlling pleasure. Both country were and are going through the same things and hopefully America doesnt follow Rome and fall. |

| I agree with Coris information on how the Roman Empire feels. She is right about the empire falling after the death of Marcus Aurelius. I agree with the information on how many different generals took over power and were overthrown by on another. The part about how the empire had to raise taxes so they could pay for the government it true and a good reason why the empire feel. One fact that she put down that I found interesting was about Diocletian and how he split the government into two parts on part was ruled by him and were all the wealthy landowners lived and the other ruled by a co-leader and was were all the other social classes lived. I also agree with her on the fact that our culture is made up of a great wealthy upper class which is not interested in our government like the wealthy Romans. And I agree that our government is more stable than the Roman government was before it feel. | ||||||||
