Marines - Paul Ninelist |
|
Paul served aboard the USS Enterprise while in the Far East as a Marine assigned Sea Duty. This is when you are on special assignment and attached to the Captain of the ship, in this case of the USS Enterprise. Well, during one of those assignments, Paul told us they were off the coast of Viet Nam. It was during the Viet Nam crisis and everyone on the USS Enterprise was probably a little anxious because you never knew what to expect in a war zone, no matter where you are serving. In this case, Paul said they were summoned to the fore section of the USS Enterprise. Now, you have to remember that they are on the USS Enterprise, this ship is a carrier, either helicopter or jets, not sure. Well, anyway, when they approached the fore side of the carrier, they noticed a small junk (boat) off the side of the ship. There were several men in the boat and they were yelling at the carrier. They looked down and saw that it was a real small boat, really small, in comparison to the carrier. the Captain asked what the men in the small boat were yelling. Paul replied that the men were yelling at the carrier to pull over and be boarded or they were going to fire at the carrier. The Captain yelled back if they didn't get out of the way, he was going to blow them out of the water. And why did we lose that war. |
