Arctic and Antarctic Adventures

Before the Trip...

I approached this unit as an actual trip we were going to take. After showing the students where Antarctica was on the globe (and telling them how cold it would be), we brainstormed on items we would need to take with us.

Live from Antarctica -- gives some great ideas about packing and planning a trip to Antarctica.

Also, ZoomSchool gives some snowflake activity ideas and some printable pictures of animals (penguins, whales, a seal, a tern) along with some basic animal information. [http://www.zoomschool.com/school/Antarctica]

Here we go!

We needed a travel agent -- TerraQuest did the trick. The students and I chose our destination, Antarctica, and our trip began! The students loved seeing the boat we were traveling on.
