Expense Of Owning A Pet

Please consider the below information before purchasing a pet.

A pet is a lifetime commitment. A pet should be viewed as a member of your family. Your pet looks to you to keep him safe, take care of him, feed him and provide him with love.

1. Purchase price

2. Vaccinations needed

3. Yearly booster shots

4. Food

5. Toys

6. Collar and leash

7. Grooming tools-shampoo, bush, comb

8. Food and water dishes

9. Bed or crate

10. Boarding fees-who will watch your pet should you go out of town?

11. Unexpected vet bills-unforeseen illness or injury

12. Cost of replacing items around the house that your pet destroyed

13. Carpet cleaning for those unexpected accidents when you thought your pet was potty trained.

14. Fencing in the yard. Many times new pet owners don't think fencing in the yard is necessary only to find out later, it is a MUST!

If you are not prepared for these expenses than you are not prepared to have a pet. Don't forget to consider the size of your pet. Puppies and kittens are tiny and cute but than they grow up. If size is a major factor than get a pure-bred when dealing with dogs. You never know how large a mix breed will grow up to be. No you can not tell by the paw size.

If members of the family have allergies, get them tested for allergies to that particular pet you want before purchasing that pet, if at all possible.
