| A long and hardfought season and still empty handed... |
| It's over, and they never really got started. Sure, the King's top scorer Ziggy Palffy was above greats such as Brett Hull in points but there is no "I" in team. The Los Angeles Kings are my favourite hockey team despite their lacking in the championship department. The "Lost" Angeles Kings have never held the Stanley Cup and this displeases me. I think it's about time that the Kings get another chance at the Cup. The Kings started out September with a 1-0 win on September 19 v.s. The San Jose Sharks. After that their Kingly season slowly deteriorated as it got closer and closer to April. Fans, such as myself, always blame one thing for the Kings' defeat each year as they fail to achieve the trophy and or playoffs, trades. LA has traded away all of their team assets year after year just after their star players begin to shine. This year I fear that since Zigmund Palffy is currently 10th in the league in scoring statistics, he will be offered a place on a Cup-winning franchise. e.g. Detroit got Robataille after Smolinski and Blake were traded elsewhere. Don't worry Kings, I will still faithfully stand by your side cheering you guys on as you some day find the money to purchase your own Stanley Cup. Scratch that, I want you guys as a team in the NHL to pull yourself by your own terms, with your own growing players. Somehow you have to resist the temptation to give your best players away to trade. |
