"Dalicent?" you call out into the mist from the top of the nest hill. "Cleo? Hello?" The entire mountain seems deserted. You've been there for almost twenty minutes, standing in the swampy fog, waiting for your friends to return. When the air begins to chill, you give up and head back for the stairway. That's when you hear it; a slow, steady beating in the air above you. You look up and nearly fall down again, for directly above you, all you can see is an expanse of glimmering silver scales. Leaning way back, you see the form of a purple dragon, slowly beginning to descend on top of you! You jump hurriedly back, just in time. "Hey!" Cleozabeth yells for atop Dalicent. "What're you doing down there?" In your head, you hear a more mature draconic voice say, Yeah, I could have squashed you. If only you weren't so small... he sighs. You laugh, "Yes, well, you could watch where you're landing!" Now that he is down on the ground, you see that he is fully grown, his broad wings stretching for what seems like ages. He is long and narrow, with sharp eyes that are intelligent yet dreamy. His wide mouth is curved into a draconic smile.
Want a ride? he asks, and you only nod before climbing on. Sitting behind Cleo, you hang on tight. Gasping as he lifts off, you are stunned. The only time you've ever flown before is in the closed cabin of a jet airplane. Deciding to show off, Dalicent performs a series of loop-de-loops that send your stomach reeling. The flight lasts only a few minutes before he gently lands on the ground. "Fare-well," you say, noticing that the stars are already in the sky.
