| PREFACE
The Graham Junior High School Band strives to maintain high standards of excellence. In addition to dedicating oneself to improve one's musical proficiency in pursuit of this standard of excellence, good citizenship is a number one requirement of band personnel. Student membership in the band is a privilege, NOT a requirement. This privilege must of necessity be accompanied by student acceptance of certain responsibilities. Therefore it is necessary that you acquaint yourself with all band regulations, procedures, traditions, administrative policies, and the basic expected attitudes that are presented in this policy handbook. A successful organization must have guidelines, which pertain to all involved. This band handbook will attempt to cover rules, regulations, and information concerning the Graham Junior High School Band Program. The success of the band program is in large measure dependent upon each student doing his/her particular task well. If one or two fall behind, the progress of the group as a whole suffers. We ask, therefore, that you as a parent cooperate with the Directors in urging your student to accept his/her responsibility assumed when joining the Graham Junior High School Band Program. As parents and students you must make a commitment if our band program is to continue to be successful and to be an organization you are proud to be associated with. A student's education will not be complete without an appreciation for music. Music will be a vital part of your life. Through band we hope you will learn to appreciate all forms of music. Members of the Graham Junior High School Band are responsible students who take care of all equipment and the Band Hall. All students are responsible for all assigned instruments and equipment. They will not abuse privileges or anything belonging to someone else. They will follow all rules and regulations and do whatever it takes to keep the Graham Junior High School Band as productive as possible. BE RESPONSIBLE!!! Members of the Graham Junior High School Band are successful students. A majority of the band participates in other activities like sports, journalism, and UIL. They are also Honor Roll students and members of the National Junior Honor Society. |
