| HINTS FOR BAND MEMBERS
1. Always check the board for daily instructions. 2. Keep music in order where it can be reached with little confusion. 3. Check for special equipment needs BEFORE a rehearsal begins (valve oil, reeds, sticks, etc.) 4. Do NOT leave music on stands or instruments where they don't belong. 5. KEEP YOUR BAND HALL CLEAN!!!!!!!!!! 6. Do not play on an instrument that is not yours. 7. The only items that belong in the set up are your instrument, music, and supplies. No backpacks or other items not related to band belong in the Band Hall. 8. No talking or disturbances during rehearsal. 9. Arrive early for all band functions. 10. Total concentration and attention during rehearsals. When someone is on the podium talking to or rehearsing the band, no one else should speak. SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR BAND 1. Instrument or appropriate sticks and mallets. 2. All reed instrument players need to have at least three reeds at all times, cork grease and reed caps. 3. All brass players need to have valve oil, slide grease and appropriate mouthpieces. Seventh and eighth grade trumpet players should be playing on 3C mouthpieces. 4. Three ring binder. 5. Pencil. 6. All music. Before rehearsal starts each day, there will be a supply check. This counts toward your daily grade. We won�t check for everything every day but you never know what will be checked. CONCERT/CONTEST DRESS You are representing our school and community with any public performance. How you look is just as important as how you play � first impressions are VERY important. Young gentlemen should wear a nice dress shirt, �Docker� style khakis (any color is fine and you can buy them at Walmart or Bealls), and a nice pair of shoes � no tennis shoes. Young ladies may wear a nice dress, pants suit, or a skirt and top. Please make sure that your dress or skirt is close to knee length and wear comfortable dress shoes, avoid wearing shoes with thin heels. No blue jeans or tennis shoes are allowed. |
