| October 1st, 2004 We had a pretty good month. The eighth graders are doing well. We have a new grading process for this six weeks. It will be loaded onto the web site ASAP. They have about learned all of the fast etude of the district band music. We are having a problem with students leaving instruments here. Please encourage your child to practice the music we have been working on. Their grade is greatly affected when they do not take their instruments home. Let them play for you on a regular basis. They know that things do not get better unless you practice. Our Fall Concert is comming up quick. Check out the calendar for more details. Well time to get ready for the football game. Take Care, Mr. G August 31st, 2004 Things are going very well with our eighth grade band. I am happy with the progress they are making. They have a chair test tomorrow on the concert f major scale. We have started work on the All District Music. I am pushing for everyone in the eighth grade band who is elligible to audition for this band. The date for this audition is December 4th. This is the only "District" type competition for junior high band students in the area. The music is challenging but very playable with a lot of practice and hard work. In years past we have had a few tryout and make it but I believe that every student in this class has a great chance of making it. There will be chair tests on a somewhat regular basis. They will have at least two days notice before the test. **Reminder** All instruments need to go home on a daily basis. I have told students that on game days they do not have to bring them home but I am here until 5:15pm everyday so there are no excuses not to bring them home after practice. Take care, Mr. G |
