That just ruined the whole effect right off the bat, when the guy being without food for six months coming back with a double chin(almost), and doesn't even seem traumatized by the whole ordeal!! I don't know about you, but if someone hacked my chest open with a saw, drilled a hole in the roof of my mouth, kept my face pulled out with whatever the hell those things were, and kept my arms and legs pinned down by ramming spikes through my wrists and ankles, I'd be pretty fucked up by the time I got back. Add to that my partner being six months pregnant and having a new partner, being buried alive for three months and having no one belive a damn thing you say other that the other crazy people who surround you, I'd be a total nutbag! But, no, it was just bussiness as usual. BLECH!
And, the fact that he weasled 20 million dollars from 1013 to effictively just sit there and look pretty, which he couldn't even do right anymore, 'cause the scars combined with all the Bavarian Kremes he's been stuffing his face full of made him not nearly as pretty, pisses me off even more! When there's so many other people on that show that deserved much more money than they got, it's not fair that he gets the Godzilla paycheck for acting badly.
And yes, I said BADLY. His acting went down the shitter around season six, occaisonally perking up when he had nothing better to do than try. To me, his performances were nothing but wooden, empty, forced, meaningless drivel that disgraces the names of the other, much more talented and dedicated actors affiliated with the show. I didn't care about Mulder anymore. I used to LOVE Mulder, he used to be my guy! But, as an actor, when you can't keep people interested in the character you're playing, then you're not doing your job very well.
When the ratings went down, it was not because of 'New Guy' being added to the cast. The ratings were dropping way before that. And I can give you the biggest reason: Duchovny didn't give a shit anymore. He knew he was getting paid either way, so he just didn't care. And then, the only fans left were Shippers and Duchovbots. Which, yes, sadly, and I'm not proud of this, I used to be. Then, 'Within' aired. Now, at that point, I was still only watching for Duchovny and yes, for Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi. The 'New Guy' gave his all to that episode, and to episodes following it. And during that time, I wanted to know more about the character. I was interested. I cared. And then , when Moolder came back, I was just like, "Why don't care about my man anymore?" I can tell you why: Duchovny couldn't keep me interested. I didn't care about Moolder anymore. Instead, I cared about the characters portrayed by talented and dedicated actors. Actors who should be actors. Actors who deserve that 20 million dollar paycheck.
And thus, I am no longer a Duchovbot. The more I paid attention, the more I saw the light. And the more I saw the light, the more I realized that I had blinded(by what, I dunno) to the fact that Duchovny is NOT a grade-A actor. Or Grade-B. Or C. Or D. To me, he's a total dud. A disgrace to the art of acting. And to keeping your body in shape when you're a major movie star. Or television star, as some people fail to recognize.
Now, don't get me wrong, he's excellent BEHIND the camera. And I tihnk that's what he should do. He writes and directs wonderfully, but he's just not a very good actor. And I put most of the blame on that for the show being off the air permenantly. And for the show's swan song for being such a peice of shit.
And so, I hate David Duchovny. He ruined 'The X-Files', he disgraced 'The X-Files', too. And, the kicker is, he's got all this money for acting badly. So sad.

Please note, I did note write this just to be able to build up any other actors. I wrote this to vent, to tell others about my feelings towards him, the reasons for those feelings, and to find out if anyone else feels the same way. So, if you choose to respond to this(please do!) don't scream at me for this. It's title is pretty self-explanitory. If you read it and were offended by it, it's your own damn fault, so don't waste my time bitching at me. The title clearly warns you what this is. If you're too stupid to figure that out, and to follow these directions, then get some fucking help. Don't waste my time.
