Bai Xue Long 【白雪龙】, traslation: White Snow Dragon, is a modern brew of tea, whose origin can be traced to the city of Fu Ding, Fu Jian Province, in 1968. In China it is known as the Xin Gong Yi Bai Cha (translated as 'White tea processed by new technology'). The leaves are gently shaped and the cracked tea leaves help the tea to oxidate more before drying. Due to its gentle fruit aroma and slightly baked flavour it has become very popular not only in China, but also around the world.
My experience: Despite its gentle taste and reduced caffeine content it is not a tea you will be ashamed of by your 'tea peers'. It is great as a starter tea to get familiar with the complex flavours of chinese tea.
The packaging suggests 5g of tea leaves per 200ml, but it all depends on the preference. First brew should take about one minute at least before ready to serve. Consequent brews might take more time. A good rule of thumb is that one portion of tea will suffice to make 3-4 brews, but I find that even 5 or 6 are still fine, though the tea may be a bit exhausted. Nonetheless, a good tea for everyday drinking for a reasonable price.
