The Saint Bernard is one of the giant breeds. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, he holds the honor of being the largest dog on record, tipping the scales at 305 pounds. He is also very affectionate with children. Naturally a dog of this size requires room and is expensive to feed. But the rewards of owning one of these gentle giants more than compensates - just ask any St Bernard owner!
