Rhodesian Ridgeback
The Rhodesian Ridegeback is the only breed originating in South Africa and was developed to hunt lion. This breed has a ridge of hair running down the center of its back from behind the shoulder to a point between the hipbones. They are a short-coated, wheaten-coloured dog. The males measure between 25 to 27 inches at the shoulder, and females are one inch less. There is little grooming to be done with this breed. It is a powerful protector of home and family, and is best suited for the country.
