Once used to guard sheep, the Poodle also had abilities as a water retriever. The breed's name comes from the German word 'pudelnass', meaning puddle. This is a fun-filled dog that enjoys a good game of ball or a walk in the park. Poodles have a curly coat of hair(not fur). They are for the most part very well tempered dogs. They come in different sizes, there are the Standard poodles which are the largest, and there are Miniature and Toy poodles as well. Poodles are calm, loyal and affectionate, and they remain one of the most popular pet breeds across the world today.
