The German Shorthaired Pointer is a handsome, all-purpose gun dog that was developed in Germany. This breed is popular both as a sporting dog and a family pet. It's coat is short, hard, and dense, and comes in liver and white, liver roan or solid liver. Needs minimal grooming, but it's ears should be checked and cleaned regularly. Males measure between 23 to 25 inches at the shoulder, and weigh between 55 to 70 pounds. Females are 2 inches less, and 10 pounds less than the males. This breed needs plenty of exercise, but can adapt well to both suburban and country life.
