Anatolian Shepherd Dog
Origin: Asia Minor
The Anatolian Shepherd Dog is a member of the Guarding Breed. Anatolians were once used to pursue large game. Now they are primarily used as guardians of the flock, but they have both the strength and swiftness to take down a wolf that threatens it. They stand between 29-32 inches at the shoulder and weigh in at about 110-140 pounds. The coat lengths vary from short and smooth to long and rough, and come in fawn, brindle, tri-colour, white and black. Anatolians are loyal to their family, suspicious of strangers and quick to learn.
