The American Staffordshire Terriers glossy, short, stiff coat may be of any colour and requires a minimum of care. Males measure 18 to 19 inches at the shoulder, while females measure 17 to 18 inches. They can weight between 57 and 67 pounds. Their ears may be cropped or natural (rose or half-prick), and tails are never docked. They are bright, alert and courageous dogs. They are very good with children and make fine housepets but, because of their terrier nature, early obedience training is advised.
