There are standard, miniauture and toy American Eskimo Dogs. The Miniature males are 12 inches to 15 inches, females 11 inches to 14 inches. They are a member of the Spitz family of dogs. They are characterized by a square build, wedge-shaped head, erect ears, thick and double coat, and bushy tail carried over its back. They are energenic, wide-awake and loyal, friendly with those they know, but excellent watch dogs.
The Toy American Eskimo Dog measures 11 inches or under for the females and 12 inches or under for the males. This breed makes a fine little watch dog, protective of its home, gentle and playful with children.
