| Life is SOY good! |
| Soy will change your life. It has changed ours. This is the lifestyle change you have been hearing about but were afraid to ask (or try). It is not really as hard as you might think. Really. Just over a year ago my husband and I quit eating animal products. Actually he started it first to lose weight and I came around after touring a beef processing plant. Once we got off meat the weight began to fall away. I knew it was working when the pants I normally wear began to literally fall off one day. I went to the internet and the library and began investigating. There are many wonderful resources out there. In them you will learn about how beef production uses almost all of the produce grown in this county including soy beans! That it takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of beef. That America uses 22% of all the beef produced. That the next time you drink a glass of cow milk you could be drinking "pink milk". Pink milk is when the cow's teats are bleeding from being on the milking machine too long and antibiotics must be added to it. That most cheeses use rennet to turn it into solid form. Rennet is from chopped up baby animal's stomachs! Some cheeses are not made from this process but read your labels before you buy. Mozzarella and cottage cheese don't use rennet in it's process. And some cheeses (ex: Alta Dena Natural Select Organic Cheeses) use a rennet from plants! If we could stop feeding animals all that produce and began eating it ourselves, we would be healthier, look better, feel better and FEED THE WHOLE WORLD!! When we wonder what we are here for and how we can help the world be a better place why not try a glass of Soy milk (Soy Dream is our favorite) or a soy burger. A new food pyramid was developed by doctors a few years ago that radically changes what Americans believed about dietary needs. Their site informed me that the only reason a vegan would need to supplement their diet with vitamin B12 is that the bacteria that is present on every meat product we eat has B12 in it. When you use B12 supplements you will only need one every few days. If you eat dairy products and/or eggs you don't even need to do that. You can also buy Soy products that are vitamin B12 enriched. You can live healthier and happier when you live and let live. keep tuning in for recipes and more great sites. See one of our favorite recipes below: Mock Tuna Salad. 1 15 oz can chickpeas drained 1 stalk celery finely chopped 1 med carrot grated (optional) 1 green onion finely chopped 2 tsp mayonnaise 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish 1/4 tsp salt (optional) mash chick peas with a fork or potato masher, leave some chunks. Add the other ingredients. Serve on whole wheat bread or pita bread with lettuce and sliced tomatoes. P.S. It's also good as a snack on crackers or on Garden of Eatin' Blue Corn Chips. | In this world of high cholesterol, osteoporosis, heart disease and diabetes... We all must wonder.. Why people must be sick and how can we get better... How do we find the answer... We have to begin to care for our own health. It is no one else's responsibility but our own. Only when we care enough for our own well being will we then begin to take care of ourselves. How do we start to take care of ourselves? First we must have commitment to ourselves . Ask: "Do I deserve to be healthier, does my family?" Then we must educate ourselves and take a look at what we are eating. It is easy to let someone else care for our health when we drive through a fast food place or buy prepared foods. This is something that we all do in this busy world. But what if it were just as easy to choose a healthy product to eat? If you must use fast food try ordering a salad or other vegetable item. (If you want to eat meat choose a low fat meat item). Next time you are in the grocery store check out the SOY products in the produce or health food section. Note: there are also many products made from rice that are good to the taste and good for you too. You can buy meat substitutes like "LightLife" Ham or Turkey or "Yves" Salami (all soy products)! Also try "Galaxy Foods" Veggie Slices, a Soy alternative to cheese or Amy's Organic Pizzas. Make and take your lunch.to work. You will be able to share what you know about SOY products and how it can help all of us have healthier lives. Most ethnic restaurants have at least one vegetarian dish, so you can go out with your friends and no one will know (unless you tell them) that you are trying a healthier lifestyle. Make your body your friend. Be kind to it, after all it will be with you all of your life. Give it the best fuel (foods) you can and it will repay you with more energy and strength, and a healthier way of being. |
