WEIMARANER NAMES

The Weimaraner

The name comes from the Grand Duke of Weimar, Charles August, who enjoyed hunting. The Weimeraner is sometimes considered a funny-looking breed, due to the fact that its head and face often appear somewhat larger than its body.  Weimeraners are large, well-built and their faces are shaped similarly to a hound's, such as a Labrador.  The most distinct characteristics of the Wiemeraner include their large, floppy ears and their steely gray color.  Weimeraner's are extremely intelligent and sociable, and are very loyal to their families.  Despite their large size, they are good with children, although very young children may get knocked over accidentally in the Weimeraner's excitedness and innocent play.  The Weimaraner requires very little grooming and coat care, as its gorgeous silver coat is very short and glossy.  Shedding is also kept to a minimum.

Because of their size, Weimaraners must have lots of exercise and if one is not willing to put the time and effort to properly exercise and socialize the Weimaraner, he or she should not own one.  This is perhaps the most important aspect of owning and taking care of the Weimeraner.  However, a well-fed and exercised Weimaraner can provide a family with years of loyal companionship.
