Project: 'Blood In Blood Out' script
I've started a project to write the whole 'Blood In Blood Out' screenplay! Unfortunately, I don't know any Spanish and also at some parts I didn't understand the English (it's not my mother's tongue). If you can - please help - any Email with help will be appreciated! Thanks!
Opening:
Traditional dancing with costumes for "día de los muertos" (day of the dead: a Mexican holiday). In the background the movie's theme mixed with traditional Mexican chanting.
Cut to:
East L.A. barrio: Chicanos living their everyday life, street graffiti of Christian symbols and icons like ‘our lady of Guadalupe’ and roses and thorns around a heart, street sign saying “Soto St. 300 N”, also in the graffiti ancient Mexican (Mexica, Maya, Aztec people) symbols like: A warrior wearing a Jaguar’s costume, ‘pyramid of the sun’ and ‘pyramid of the moon’ (with the ‘street of the dead’ between), eagle on a prickly-pear cactus with a snake in it’s beak, painting of the Spanish conquest, etc.
A bird’s eye view of L.A. titled: “East Los Angeles 1972”
A yellow Chevy stops by the highway and drops hitch-hiker (Miklo Velka):
Driver: So what’s the difference between East L.A. and L.A.?
Miklo: It’s a whole different country
Driver: Hope it works better for you in here than in Vegas
Miklo: It’s got to – It’s home!
Miklo waves goodbye to the driver and walks with his bag. Miklo walks into a restaurant named “Gusto Mexico”, the restaurant worker hands Miklo
a greasy paper bag with Miklo’s food.
Worker: Oye, you ain’t gonna get anything like this in Las Vegas.
Miklo: You got that right, I’ve been dreaming about these for eighteen months…
Worker: ??? mi hijo, como siempre
Miklo: gracias! Eighteen months…
Worker: Say hello to your mother. Stay out of trouble!
Miklo: Orale!
Cut to:
Miklo steps out of a place named “5 Puntos” and cross the street. He sees
the pine tree (‘El Pino’) and makes the hand sign of V.L. (‘Vatos
Locos’). Then he passes by the barber shop.
Miklo: ??? I ??? homes, cuando?
Barber: mañana ???
Miklo: Orale!
Cut to:
A small street, covered with graffiti of V.L. symbolizes it’s they’re turf. Miklo sees a painting of ‘Our Lady of Guadalupe’ cross himself and has a flashback about his last fight with his father:
Father: Miklo, tell those ??? to step on it or else they ain’t gonna get
paid. Did you hear what I said?
Miklo: I heard you!
Father: Get their asses moving, I’ve got two more trucks on the way.
Miklo: ??? you order too much.
Father: that’s fifteen hundred bucks worth of mud, now you tell them to
get it down or they can pay for it.
Miklo: that’s a mistake, tell them yourself.
Father: Don’t ever take the side of a Mexican over your father! Just tell
them!
Miklo: Fuck you!
Father: (slaps Miklo) you ungrateful little punk, I’m the one who got you
out of jail. If you love them so much get a ??? You’ll get the same thing
as they get paid and I’ll get a man to run this ???
Miklo: You son of a bitch! (Knocking his dad down and punches his dad in
the face) find yourself another slave dad! I’m going home!
Father: You’re through! You’re fired! I’m calling your probation officer!
Cut to:
Close up on Miklo’s mom’s (Lupe) eye while she’s putting her mascara on.
Mother: (laughing) I wish I could have seen your father’s face… You beat
him up! ??? dios mi hijo… Aye Miklo, he’ll kill me if he’ll find you
here!
Miklo: don’t worry mommy, he ain’t ever gonna touch you again. Not after
what I’ve done.
Mother: I know that ??? He’ll turn you in! Miklo, come help me do me up.
You know if the judge finds out you’re here he’s gonna stop my cheque, I need that money! Ooh baby cold hands!
Miklo: Oye mommy, in seis días, just six little days, bingo! I’m home free!
Mother: Aye, bingo, what’s this bingo? What you’re gonna be doing in six days?
Miklo: mi cumpleaños, June’s twenty eighth – my birthday! Remember? I’ll
be off probation.
Mother: A birthday,,, Ooh eighteen… qué macho! qué macho! But to me you’re always gonna be my little ??? Ha?
A car horn sound in the background
