My 2000 Dodge Ram Cargo Van shown with "Tarantula" mag wheels, Delta III Running Boards, and Bugflector II bug shield.
The idea behind the project was that I wanted an economical camper that would provide accessing the sleeping area without going outside the vehicle. I also wanted a vehicle that could fit in my garage and be driven daily. I decided to invest in a new 2000 Dodge cargo van. The barebones interior had no interior walls or carpeting. The van came only with 2 front seats and a metal "contractor" separation screen which I removed. My van includes the optional equipment; automatic transmission, air conditioning, power steering and brakes, tilt wheel, rear anti-lock brakes and non-slip differential.
This interior shot shows the sofa I designed and built which converts to a "full-size bed." The interior walls are covered with a slate gray vinyl over 3/8 inch foam attached to 1/4 inch plywood. There are storage bins and cup holders on both sides of the sofa.
After a simple pull, the sofa converts to a full-size bed. There is still easy access to the storage bins and under-bed drawers. The sofa/bed is covered with a striped colored fabric that matches the slate gray vinyl.
Lifting up the sofa skirting reveals a four-drawer clothing storage. Removing the pillows, notice the tissue dispenser built into the right rear door.
Here's a view of the interior taken from the rear doors.
