Nightblades are much like rouges using stealth, but also like sorcerers in casting arcane magic. Most Nightblades become professional thieves who try to avoid the thieves’ guilds. They believe they are superior to all within the guilds and don't believe in taking orders on who and what they can take. Others may become scouts using their magic to conceal themselves and detect any dangers ahead. A few may become assassins or mercenaries for hire taking jobs from whoever can afford to pay his fees.
As Rogue
As Rogue with these exceptions:
Nightblades can cast spells as well as use magic devices, wands, and
scrolls. Also they are not quite as
skilled as Rogues are.
As Rogue
Nightblades, if they choose to
worship any deity, usually worship Boccob.
Some may also worship their racial deities.
Many Nightblades are usually
discovered by another Nightblade around the age of puberty when their sorcerous
powers begin to surface. They are taught
how to control and use their spells to maximum effect, usually to be sent on
his way soon after. Many of their
skills are self-taught. They learn to
appreciate and love the solitude that they get as a result of their powers and
usually prefer to keep to that solitude as much as possible.
They are even less trusting of
others than regular Rogues are.
As Rogue
Nightblades prefer to work alone and
keep to themselves when in a group, but when they have to work with someone
they would rather work with rogues and rangers because of their stealth. They
like the protection they get from fighters and paladins in combat but elsewhere
they are just too loud. They also like
the extra spell support and combat magic’s of the sorcerer and wizard.
GAME RULE INFORMATION:
Abilities:
Dexterity is a high priority of Nightblades does to their light armors. Charisma determines how powerful a spell a Nightblade can cast, how many spells he can cast per day, and how hard those spells are to resist. To cast a spell a Nightblade must have a Charisma score of 10 + the spell's level. The DC of a saving throw against a Nightblades spell is 10 + the spell's level + the Nightblades Charisma modifier. Intelligence allows for more skill points.
