Great Maul—
Great Mauls were designed with one purpose in mind, smash and devastate any and all targets it hits. It is fashioned from a cut log at least 1-½ feet in diameter and 2ft thick. Then it is banded in wrought iron, with copper rivets. A long 3-½ foot oak or walnut handle is then fixated to the headpiece. Headpieces are usually intricately carved and the handles are wrapped in leather bindings. Great Mauls are cumbersome in combat, due to their extreme weight. They are highly prized by savage races, as are Great Axes.

*Great Spear;

Great Spear “Dragon Lance”—
The Great Spear is a powerful weapon, often used by infantry against charging opponents on horseback. The weapon is extremely long, approximately 12 ½ ft, and difficult to use effectively. In more recent times, it has been sought out for its’ potent reach to use against Dragons and other massive creatures. Through tests of blood and victory it has earned the name of  “Dragon Lance”, and still is widely used in the realms.
The Great Spear is long and grants the wielder 15ft reach when using this lengthy weapon. However there are drawbacks to such reach; adjacent foes cannot be attacked, and striking at opponents at 10ft cause the wielder to have a –2 penalty to hit. The weapon can be thrown by creatures of Large size or greater, but due to its’ heavy iron head, does not fly exceptionally far.
Great Spears have large cast iron heads, shaped like great cross-tipped arrows. The head is about 2 ft in length, with backward facing barbs that create vicious wounds upon being extracted.  Their pole lengths are smooth and wrapped in leather bindings. About 1 ft form the head a large caliper with three forwards facing spikes, is collared to prevent the weapon from piercing too deeply. Great Spears deal x3 damage on hits readied against a charge, as well as x3 damage when used to charge an opponent.
At a cost of an extra 30gp, a small wooden deflection plate can be attached to the weapon shaft. This tiny shield can be slide along the length of the shaft to whatever degree the wielder sees fit and weighs 9lbs. This tiny shield grants the wielder ¼ cover, but makes an ungainly weapon even more so. The wielder suffers an armor check penalty of –2 and must use greater effort to move and balance the weapon; suffering a –5ft penalty to base movement.
