Previously Owned Rides (and stories)
1986 Schwinn Predator Qualifier
My first 'ride'. My folks gave it to me for a combined birthday & good report card gift in June of 1986. This bike was my soul mate until I reached age 12 or so. It came with a Sakae neck, MX Dia-Comp brakes, Sugino cranks, the Dyna Viscount seat, and I threw some Mushroom handlebar grips on her. I think that bike has about 300,000 miles on it. I still have it in storage at my parent's house so someday our kids can ride it. Nothing like summer vacation, Big League Chew, and BMX bikes. God, I miss those days.
1978 Buick LeSabre Landau Coupe
This was my first car, purchased by my parents for me to drive when I turned 16. It had a Pontiac-built 301 V8, Kraco cassette player, and lots of problems. After patching rusty floors, repainting the quarter panel & trunk, and replacing the shocks, carpet, and tires...she drove right and looked good. Then after 9 months of ownership it caught fire one summer day. It burned back to the trunk before the firefighters could extinguish the blaze. $161 later what was left of  it was towed and turned into scrap. I still like GM B-Bodies, but I'm not sure I'll own another one.
Sorry for the poor scan. It was 1995.
1964 Chevrolet Bel Air Sedan
Months after my flaming LeSabre went away, my dad reminded me that a fellow Vintage Chevrolet Club member had a 64 Chevy for sale. I knew of it, but didn't know enough about it. We met up with him, looked it over, and it came home with us. It featured a 283 and Powerglide, over 90K on the clock, and ran pretty good. My brother Kyle and I washed and cleaned her up that first day, and then cruised over to the local Dog-N-Suds for a cruise-in car show. About 20 of my friends were there to greet me as I pulled in to the lot. Everly Brothers on the radio, a clean old Chevy, and a full tank of gas. It was a night I'll never forget.

In the year and a half I owned the old Chevy my dad and I freshened up the motor, detailed the hood & undercarriage, and had the suspension totally rebuilt. It drove so well and was the most reliable car I ever owned. The Bel Air was sold shortly before I went away to attend college. I believe it was one of  the cars my mother was sorry to see leave. She looked at me after it was sold and said "
That was your car".
1988 Chevrolet Beretta
I went away to college with a 1988 Chevrolet Beretta. This was a project car that I fixed up, touched up, and then quickly sold. It was a base model Beretta with the 2.0 4cylinder and TH125C automatic. Zippity-do-don't. With the money I made from the sale, I splurged and bought a clean Grand Marquis.
