| Church and State Rant 11-16-03 Ok it's been a while since that crap with the Ten Commandments monument, yet hahaha I still have something to say about it so nah nah. One thing that we must hold true in today's society, as responsible and intelligent adults... is that no arrogant person should claim his beliefs to be the end-all-be-all. (You know like the army guy who said "We're fighting in the name of God and I know theirs is a false Idol" yeah that got me steamed.) That said, religion can not govern the people. So really, religion should hold no influence on someone's vote, political stance, or judgement as a policitian. It has no place in out courtroom. A few years back, Alabama couldn't have schools worth a damn cause no one would vote to pay taxes. So we tried a lottery. It was voted against becuase of religious beliefs. In court, if your beliefs, relgiious or no, bias you against a particular people, you won't serve jury duty. Get my point? Besides, Alabam will never have money even though repubs screw MOST southerners financially. Besides, I for one believe I know right from wrong without reading these tablets which start with 3 rules that only apply to christians. And I head a couple people say regardless it was against American policy they were impressed at how hard he fought for what he believed in... Yeah so did the nazis in '42. I'm sorry to be so mean about this. I just feel morals are present even in people who break them so we need not keep this book to remember them. Organized Religion Rant 11-16-03 Organized religion just seems like a bad idea. A spiritual belief should be something the person came up with on their own, what makes sense to them. One's beliefs should be personal unless someone else asks cause they want to learn. If people could just be spiritual, feel the everpresense of existance, and forget the rituals, traditions, and missions, we'd be much better off. Today we read about roman or greek mythology and take it so lightheartedly. Someday out current Deities will be just as obsolete. I know, I know, I'm going to hell cause I don't bow down to jesus right? Dude... If jesus knew what would be carried out in his name 2000 years later, he'd have kept to himself. His teachings were of love, not hate. But God can hate. God canhate that which he creates for being what he created it to be. No two people can eveer share the same exact view without weeks of debate and compromise, because no 2 people have the same mind or background. So simply put, It should be born in the mind and stay there. Continued>>> |
