Let me get my purple highlighter out on this one...
My friend Trey is a very wierd case. A conservative whom I am friends with. His views are very sensible for a conservative even though he thinks that Iraq and Al-Qaida were linked. We've been able to remain civil through even the most cutthroat conversations. Buts it's strange trying to figure him out. He says hell no to gay marriage, and yet last night, we had a gay couple celebrating their 20 year anniversary and he was being so nice and even complimenting them back in the kitchen. hmm... Anyway, people are hard to figure out... the Bush administration constantly tries to legislate against gays and yet Cheney's daughter supports him and the Bush family has various gay fashion consultants, and friends... It's wierd.
But no wierder than a republican administration acting through Toms like Condi and Colin.
And the amount of seniors who voted for bush decreased.... but the amount of latinos who voted for bush increased greatly! Are latinos that catholic? They they would vote against ehir own best wishes? And people don't believe me that Christianity is a control technique.
Moses got the 10 commandments why? So people wouldn't kill or steal, kids would obey their parents, people would have successful marriages, and the first 4 keep people loyal to the other 6 rules. In leviticus, it's forbidden to eat shrimp why? cause it was dangerous. In leviticus, gays are warned why? because it was long before they could safely be accepted.
These rules kept order and safe practices in the land, the same way our laws now do... but what's important is to remember it was all a fable with the purpose of keeping the human race alive until enlightenment... the inevitable realization that this was all written by man. Perhaps the contradictions were placed there on purpose, so advanced enough man would realize its inaccuracies.
But the problem came when man was too afraid to come to that realization.
But then, all religion has been for that common purpose. In this sense, we all do believe in the same God. As humans have always created what they thought was good, they decided we must be formed by a creator, and also made that creator have human flaws such as vengeance. This also stemmed from the human' natural knack to explain the unexplainable. That's why we now have the current system of hypothesis, theory, and fact. Because it takes a long time to state an idea was correct. So why would one of millions of religious concept be any more valid than another? Because you were raised into it, or it best suited your imagination. And if one absolutely must be created who created the creator? LOL besides us?
So we push Xtianity, and even begin the crusades, which only happened because they exerted a form of zeal only matched by Al-Qaida... yeah that's right an Xtian who kills an abortion doctor is no more righteous that a suicide bomber.
Except the Xtian was promised nothing, and the Muslim was promised 10-some-odd virgins.
