Gallery Three
Vermont black slate or argolite is used for all of my bas-relief sculptures.  These stones are very versatile in that they can be incorporated into masonry around the home; such as brick or stone walls, garden walls, and fireplace mantels, or simply displayed on a wall... mounted on a finished wood plaque or even a miniature easel.  They make an excellent personal award as well.
This stone was made for a bright young Paramedic in Zaandijk, The Netherlands.  'Doc' Bas Kuiper. The symbol is well known, but these men & women are just kind faces and comforting soft words in times of distress.  The unsung 'modern' heroes!

Broken Reflection
Argolite is similar to slate, but harder and more apt to fracture or chip during working.  This piece took First Place in the regional disabled veteran's Art Competitions, American Lake, WA.      2 March, 2001
And a Second Place and cash  award from the Pacific Gallery Artists annual showing- Tahoma Gallery, Tacoma, WA  12 May, 2001
