Being a glutton for punishment, I signed up for a third Tournament! (I could end up playing 18 tournament games at the same time!) This one is the February Fast. I won the first two games by forfeit (remember week one? I guess I am not the only one...)
The next two, against cudzoo, were bloody little affairs.

The last two games , against Joe, were more of a knock down-drag out type thing.

By move 16, I was down a pawn, but I had a nice little attack going. I avoided the trap he set for me on 17 (18Qxf3 Nd2! forking the rook and queen), and by move 21 I am up a Bishop! On 24, I move the wrong rook, it almost cost me the game. It did cost me my hard fought advantage. By move 30, it is two rooks and a queen against my rook, queen and bishop., and he has a two pawn advantage! 37 and 38 were clever moves (if I do say so myselt!) that gave me back the advantage. At move 40, it is my Bishop and Queen vs. his Queen. He still had a pawn on me, but it did him no good. Black resigned when the c pawn broke free.

what can I say about this one? I though I had it won on 25. (didn't see the Knight move) I could have won with: (40 S Rcg1+ 41 Kf2 Qxg3+ 42 Ke2 Rh2++ ) but I missed that, too. At least I was able to find a checkmate at the end. So, I win the round and advance.

My tournament record: 17-7 throw out the forfeits and it is 15-1... not to shabby, but the second rounds will be tougher.

My chess horoscope says that as White, I should simplify and wear dark glasses. Hey, it worked for this game:
