Superbowl XXXVII in San Diego (2003)

Joy and I spent the day at the NFL Experience, an interactive entertainment venue where you can fulfill your dreams of throwing the winning touchdown, kicking the deciding field goal and much more.

A top priority at the NFL Experience was to kick a field goal.  Today was my lucky day as I went 2 for 2 from 20 and 30 yards out.

All those aspiring to be place kickers should observe this picture as Joy displays perfect form booting a 20 yard field goal deep into the bay.

I was born and raised in Oakland, so there's no question who I was rooting for in the Superbowl

Some of my fondest football memories are from the 49ers teams of the eighties that dominated with Joe Montana at the helm.

How big of a Bay Area sports fan is Joy?  Well, he likes the 49ers, Raiders, Giants, A's, Warriors, Sharks, Clash & Sabercats.

Joy is the consummate Bay Area sports fan, so it's no surprise the 49ers and Raiders are his favorite football teams.

Joy gets an autograph from Tony Gonzalez, the best tight end in football and future hall of famer.

Joy takes a picture with Bill Werndell.  Werndell is one of the best sports-radio personalities in San Diego, and Joy is one of the biggest sports fan to ever live.

Joy and I pledged our allegiance to the Raider Nation by getting Oakland Raider insignias tattooed on our arms.

After connecting on my first field goal from 20 yards, I had to come back to try a 30-yarder.  In this picture I watch the ball sail through the up-rights as fireworks go off in the background.

This is the passing challenge at the NFL Experience.  You have to throw a football through the hoops to score.  Joy hit 2 of 3.  I had a tougher time, but I nailed the pass on my final throw.

The Raider Nation was in full effect at the NFL Experience.  Silver and black clad fans dominated the park, and chants of "Raaiii-ders" filled the air.
