Treatment and Scheduling of Appointments:
Initial sessions and consultations are typically 75 minutes, and while current problems will be discussed, this is not a typical therapy session. Forms will need to be completed, and much of the time will be spent collecting accurate history (i.e., social, psychological and medical). Patient responsibilities and rights will also be presented. It is important for clients to feel comfortable and connected in therapy. Sometimes this occurs in the initial session, and sometimes it takes longer. Everyone is unique.
Following the initial session, therapy sessions will be scheduled for 45-50 minutes, usually weekly in the begining but variable depending on patient needs. Once the rhythm of therapy has been established, positive changes are likely to occur.
Telephone Calls Between Sessions:
Routine calls for updates, crises, or for the purpose of scheduling appointments are expected and will not be billed unless the telephone call is primarily therapeutic in nature. Therapeutic telephone contact will be prorated at the usual rate if the message or the phone call is extended in nature.
