Additional Details
Confidentiality: All information presented in therapy sessions is confidential and can only be disclosed to others with patient written consent, unless there is imminent danger for either the patient or identified others. If you have insurance, your insurance company will also request certain information which can be discussed in session.

Coverage & Emergencies: You will be notified of vacations or time out of office well in advance. You will also be informed of emergency procedures. Emergencies refer to dangers of extreme distress or danger. If you are unable to wait for a return call from Dr. McDonald, or if she is unavailable and you are unable to reach your PCP (or another specialist involved in your care), you should go to the closest emergency room or to Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC), located at 3811 O'Harra Street in Oakland (412-624-2000). In extreme cases, you may need to call 911 for assistance.

Payment for Sessions: Self-pay patients will be expected to pay at the time of their sessions. Dr. McDonald does participate in most of the insurance networks. When insurance is involved, Dr. McDonald will ask you to sign forms; she will complete necessary forms for authorization and will bill your insurance company. Any copayments, however, are expected to be paid at the time of the session. It is the responsibility of the patient to make sure that insurance coverage is accurate and current. You can call the 1-800 # on the back of your insurance card in advance to make sure Dr. McDonald is in your network, and to find out if your policy has session limits and the amount of your copayments. Remember, although Dr. McDonald will make every effort to collect insurance payments, the ultimate responsibility lies with the patient. Insurance company authorizations are only as good as the policy's effective dates and conditions.
