Bently is derived from the name Walter Own Bentley, this was then stylized into the famous B.
Brief History:
Walter Own Bentley, the company founder, has built Bentley cars alongside Rolls-Royce since 1933. Walter Own Bentley started by setting up an office in Conduit Street London; using a team of two engineers he designed and built a sports car. His cars were displayed at the 1919 Motor Show and again in 1921. Two years later a Bentley prototype was raced at Brooklands. Walters car the Bentley 3 litre - was put into full production at a factory in Cricklewood, Bentley then went on to have a huge racing career winning the 24 hr Le Mans four time in a row.
Bentley was later taken over by Rolls-Royce which took them into the later half of the century where they started manufacturing some of there greatest cars to date. Bentley also manufactured some of the most reliable aircraft engines ever, these were used in planes throughout the Second World War.
