The Number Game : Cleveland Browns - TOMLINSON16

Heading into week 7 of the NFL season, one team that might not stick out on your radar but has a good shot to make an impact this year is the Cleveland Browns.

At a modest 3-3 the Browns don't look to alarming, but look into it and you will see a team that can compete with the best of them. Jeff Garcia leads the Browns offense, and currently boasts a league leading 1072 yards in the air along with 7 TD's and only 3 INT's. The main receiving threat for the Cleveland offense would be standout Dennis Northcutt, who has posted an amazing 28 yard rec avg and overall has 14 catches for a league leading 394 yards and 3 trips to paydirt. The other wideout who Garcias' been hooking up with is Quincy Morgan, who has posted a modest 202 yards receiving. Andre Davis and rookie TE Kellen Winslow Jr. have also contributed, each having over 100 yards receiving on the year.
To complement Jeff Garcia's passing attack is the 2 - back combo of Virgina Tech Alum. Lee Suggs and former 1st round pick William Green. Suggs', the premier back, leads the Browns in carries (82) and yards (210) in the running attack.

On defense, the Browns have a very opertunistic, turnover - creating team. Ranked 4th in the league in sacks with 21, lead by 'thought to be bust' DE Courtney Brown with 7 and fellow DE Kenard Lang is close behind with 5. This Browns secondary is also getting the job done, shaking up coverages and schemes resulting in the group getting 8 INT's in just 6 games. Cornerbacks Leigh Bodden and Anthony Henry each have 2, along with Earl Little who is at 2 as well.
The Browns' most mentionable game would be their tough loss to the AFC powerhouse Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers boast one of the best defenses' if not THE best in the league, and the Browns still managed to post 17 points against them in a 24-17 loss, the most any team has put up against the Steel Curtain. And since the tough loss in Pittsburgh the Browns have been tough, shutting out the in-state rival Bengals in Cleveland 21-0.

More to Come
