Interesting.  I believe the last time I was sent one of these I declined the opportunity.  Well, in good humor, I'll do it this time.  I'm glad you did, Seven.  It will allow you to see just how much time the crew of Voyager has on their hands.  (playful grin)  -Doc

Seven read that answer again.  It was a plausible reason for his favorite number to be seven.

7. Current residence:  The USS Voyager, a popular answer I would surmise.  (Good answer, Seven.  Mind if I borrow?)

9. Do you have any children, and if so what are their names, ages, and nicknames?  I had one once.  Jason.

She frowned at this, uncertain of when this could have occured.  The only time she could think of was when he'd been on the planet that had been displaced in time.

12. What is your favorite game? Golf
13. What is your favorite color? baby blue
14. What is your favorite food? I enjoyed quite a bit of cheesecake a while back.  (winks at Seven)
15. Name three of your favorite songs? Oh, how could I be forced to choose just three from so many wonderful examples of music?
16. What do you feel is your best physical feature?  My deep, soulful and feeling eyes.
17. What do you look for in the opposite sex?  Efficient compatability.  (Another good one, Seven.)
18. What is the worst decision that you have ever made?  I've had a few things I'd like to change.
19. Have you ever gotten a dozen roses from anyone, if so name them?  Hmm..not as of yet.
20. Have you ever kissed anybody of the opposite sex, if so how many different people?  Hmm.  Shall I count those who kissed me as well?
21. Have you ever been afraid of doctors?  No.  I've never had a reason.  Engineers on the other hand...
22. Was it the Doc?  Very funny.
23.  Name three of your best friends and why?  Captain Janeway because she's allowed me to grow so much.  Seven because she's someone whom I can identify with and whom I generally enjoy.  Kes, even though she's gone, she'll always be special because she encouraged me to become who I am.
24. Do you think Seven is a hottie?  I think she is very attractive, both physically and otherwise.

She exhaled, wondering if she was attractive enough for his tastes, both physically and otherwise.

25. What is your favorite holiday?  Any holiday that doesn't bring hordes of people into my sickbay complaining about Neelix's new holiday concoction.
26. Okay, earth traditionalists, name three things you want for Christmas?  A medical aide actually interested in his work, a vacation on the holodeck and someone to share it with.
27. What is your favorite holoprogram?  Singing with Seven in Sandrines.
28. What are the names of your past crushes?  Jaryn, slightly
29. What is the name of your present crush, if you have one?  Well, all right.  I'll answer truthfully like Seven did.  And my answer is that I return her feelings.  Seven is my answer.

Seven read the answer again and smiled.  He did return her romantic interest.  But now the question was what to do now.  She certainly didn't know what to say to him.  What did one normally say in a situation like this?  Suddenly her closeest friend became new territory and she knew she would have to tread carefully so not to end their friendship.

31. Do you drink alcohol?  I also recently enjoyed that activity, via Seven.
32. Have you ever been in the brig? I try to be everywhere at least once.
33. Have you ever been in a shuttle accident?  Sure.  Haven't we all been in some sort of shuttle emergency? 34. Have you ever had surgery? Hmm.  If you consider the excellent work Lieutenant Torres has done with my program.
35. What was your favorite thing to do when you were little?  I was never little.  Perhaps I'll try it someday.
36. Who is your hero?  Not sure I have one.
37. What are your hobbies?  Music, holo photography, golf.
38. The most romantic thing anyone has ever said or done to you?  A certain dance I shared with a friend comes to mind.  (Stealing that answer too.)

She smiled at this.  So, he'd known what she meant.

40. Favorite thing to wear?  The real question is whose identity I like to wear.  (evil-grin)  just kidding...you hope.
41. Future son's names?  One would think that if I could answer this question, I could name myself.  Jason was a choice once.  Not sure about the future.
42. Furture daughter's names?  Anna, or Bethany.  Not sure why, but I like them.
43. What is your rank?  Chief Medical Officer.
44. Do you honestly like anything made with leola root?  Never had it, thank God.  From what I hear it's terrible.
45. Who was the last person of the opposite sex that you kissed?  Mariza.
46. Who or what was your last dream you remember having about?  I don't sleep.  Therefore I don't dream.
47. Have you ever wanted to die?  No.
48. Have you ever gone all night without sleep?  See 46.
49.  What are you thinking of at this moment?  I'm thinking of going somewhere.

50. Funniest person? Tom's kinda funny...sometimes
51. Most annoying person? Tom when he whines about his sickbay shifts.  It's a very sad site.
52. Someone who has hung in there with you no matter what?  Kes was always there for me.
53. Someone you love very much? I love all my family on Voyager.
54. Someone who is always there for you?  Captain Janeway and Seven.
55. Someone you enjoy talking to?  Seven

58. Biggest jerk? See question 51.  Again, only when he whines.
59. Most talkative? Neelix likes to talk alot....but so do I.
60. Person you are most open with? Seven.  I tell her a lot of things that no one else knows.

Seven couldn't help but feel a warmth in response to this answer.  He was very honest with her and she appreciated that he would tell her things he couldn't tell others.  She could always count on him to understand and listen to her when she talked to him about things that the others wouldn't understand.

61. Cutest? Naomi's a cute kid.
62. Busiest? Captain Janeway's a pretty busy woman, but I'm quite a busy man.
63. Someone who loves to be cuddled or hugged? I certinaly love those things.
64. Best kisser? Mariza
65. Quietest? Commader Tuvok is quiet as Seven says, but she can be quiet as well.
66. Silliest? Neelix.
67. Grouchiest? Unfortunately I've had that description attributed to me - however untrue it is.
68. Most talented?  I could use this to advertise my excellent skills in both singing and medicine, but I'll skip past all that and say that Seven has a talent for singing and for making me smile.
69. Computer whiz? Lieutenant Torres and Seven
70. Strongest?  Tuvok, Torres, Vorik and Seven all possess superior strength.
71. Knows everything? I don't know anything that knows everything.
72. Most hyper? Naomi Wildman is quite active.
73. Comedian? Lieutenant Paris tries to evoke humor.  (Haha, Seven.  This is definately my answer as well.) 74. Most patient? Commander Tuvok.
75. Most athletic? Mariza could run like the wind.
76. Can do just about anything?  Captain Janeway can do lots of things that most can't.
77. Most rebllious? Lieutenant Torres
78. Most ticklish? I've only tickled one person.  Jason and he was quite ticklish.  
79. How would you describe the person that sent you?  Seven is a beautiful woman, both inside and out and I'm grateful to have her in my life.
80. How do you feel about the fact that this survey is almost over?  Happy.  Now I can get to astrometrics. 81. Are you sure? Yes.

Seven furrowed her brow and read question 80 again.  Instinctively, she turned and even suspecting his presense, she jumped.  "I didn't hear you come in," she said, standing back a little.  She could feel her heart beating faster now.  She was going to have to confront this new situation and it made her nervous.  "How can I help you, Doctor?"

He smiled and folded his arms.  "I think we both have an idea of why I'm here."  He gazed at her softly.  "Did you mean it, Seven?  What you said."

She swallowed and looked from the floor back to him and nodded.  "Yes," she answered simply.  "Do you mean what you said?"

Doc took a step forward and clasped her hand gently.  "Yes," he echoed.

"What do we do now?" she asked, looking him over with a new perception.

He stepped closer.  "We take things a step at a time."  Moving even closer, he opened his arms.  She stiffened, expecting his lips to meet hers and not sure what to think of it, but was surprised when all he did was offer a hug.  He pulled away with a gentle smile and she felt better.  She offered him a returned smile and before she even realized what she was doing, she kissed him.  It was his turn to be surprised.  He'd waited to kiss her until he was sure she was ready.  It never dawned on him that she might be ready now.  

When she pulled away, she had that rare softness in her eyes that he treasured.  "I believe we both have work to do, Doctor," she said.  I will see you on the holodeck later?"

He smiled and touched her hair, nodding.  "Yes.  See you later."

She watched as he turned and departed.  It was surprising how much could change in a matter of one morning.  She took a breath and returned to her work, hoping that this new step they had taken would lead only to increased feelings.  It had taken her a while to realize it, but if she wanted romance he would be the perfect choice.  They already cared for one another and he understood her.  She wouldn't have to engage in irrelevant things to win him.  He already had feelings for her.  And more than that, she had feelings for him.  He made her feel like no other man on Voyager had.  It was a strange new world to her, but she couldn't help but feel excited about where things would lead.  She paused for a moment and smiled.  She had no doubt things would be much different - and better than before.
