Sept. 28 & 29 To finish off the 1991 racing season, Doc and Ed Merritt traveled to Medford, OR to compete at the Jackson County Sports Park at the Tall Pines Nostalgia Drags. I snapped this picture in the motel parking lot.

Waiting in line to race, we hear the track announcer say, "If your car breaks down on the return road, DO NOT get out of your car. There have been rattlesnakes sighted on the return road."

Doc made a few runs...then his Starter went out, and he was out of competition. It was not a good year for parts on our trips!

Ed took a 2nd Place in the "Street Shoot-out" when his car ran out of gas right before the finish line. Here they console each other on their bad luck with parts and fuel. (Note: The pitboard sign reads "Doc Lavinder's trailer on loan Courtesy of R & J Mobility, Independence OR (503)838-5520".)
