July 4 1991 Debut in paint in time for the points race. Many thanks to Gary Eaves and his race team. It took 7 months to take it from a chicken coop to a race car, and a year to get it "looking pretty!"

July 21 1991 I took a lot of burnout pictures. Doc had just gotten a new "mini-spool" and was getting smoke off both tires again.

Aug 11, 1991 Another burnout picture. The fans liked the smoke and Doc liked the stickiness it gave the tires. Sticky tires made for better traction on the line, and better traction made for cutting better lights. (Note] A perfect light is .500, the object is to get as close to .5 without going under. A .499 or under is a "red light" and an automatic loss of the race.) Doc usually cut lights in the mid to low 5's, but everyone sometimes red lights; it's just part of racing!

Aug. 11 1991 On those very hot race days, like any other man, Doc took off his shirt between races. He was not ashamed of or embarrassed by his body.

My daughter, Trina (age 16) poses with Doc and the Chicken Coupe on our driveway at home.
