July 25, 1993 on a "time only" run, the ladies decided to play in our guys' cars. Doc shows me how to stage while Doug Steiger shows his Lynne. The first run went fine, but slow...Doc told me to "Go for it!" During our second run, I mis-shifted (putting it back into 1st gear instead of into 3rd), and had to be towed off the track! :-( It was the last time I ever played in the Chicken Coupe!

Fortunately, we had the Jackson's. Doc had to miss one race while they replaced all of the push-rods and all of the exhaust valves. I ever-after told people who asked: "My sister-in-law never flew my brother's helicopter, why should I drive Doc's race car... there is more to driving a race car than just steering it down the 1/4 mile!"

Bob Campbell, owner of Bob's OK Tires, Salem, OR, sponsored all of the slicks, front tires and trailer tires for the Severely Disabled Chicken Coupe from 1992 - 1997. His advertising sign was on both sides of the race car on the rear fender-wells. Here Doc shows him the 1st Place plaque he won at the 1994 "Oldies But Goodies" race at the Woodburn Dragstrip.

Bob's OK Tires also sponsored the inevitable flat tire repairs. Bob Campbell and employee, Mark Hamilton check out this one.

Mark Hamilton poses with a new set of slicks for the Severely Disabled Chicken Coupe. Doc got a new set of Mickey Thompsons every season, and another when he needed them. Doing burns-outs sure does wear out slicks!

Brad Croucher poses with a new set of front tires. Front tires didn't wear out nearly as often, and Doc only needed 2 sets in 7 years of racing.
