They put in a seat that swiveled and slid in and out that allowed him entry into the car. They extended the gas pedal up to reach his foot, they customized the gearshift so he could reach it, they put on a small steering wheel with a specially-designed steering knob that fit his hand, they mounted the hand-brake on the dash, and they put in a tilt-telescoping steering column. That was just the beginning. Throughout his career, R&J stayed with us, making adjustments as necessary, supplying the interior, loaning us a trailer his first 2 years, putting in the breakaway roll-cage when that became necessary and even giving him a taxidermed Rooster to ride Mascot! Without R&J, Doc's childhood dream of "becoming a race car driver" never could have come true. They. therefore, were the only sponsors to have their name in PAINT on the Severely Disabled Chicken Coupe. All the rest were in vinyl signs that could be easily removed and changed. R&J's motto was: "If you have one good limb, we can help you drive!" R&J Mobility... 155 E. St. S. P.O. Box 128, Independence, Oregon 97351 (503)838-5520

May 1991. R&J took care of necessary changes at all stages of Doc's career. This trailer is the one we used "on loan" from them for 2 years.

Bob Comeau, Vancouver, WA, driver of "Ol' Gold" (pictured in garage in background) donated Doc his old trailer when he was up-grading to an enclosed trailer for his car. Bob had seen us down in Sears Point at the end of the Season in 1992, and saw that Doc's trailer was "on-loan" from R&J Mobility. Our "new" trailer made our loading and transporting the Chicken Coupe so much easier! It had a power-jack, and a power-winch, (which Doc could control) thus ending my days of having to crank the handle to tilt the trailer, and my scary task of having to drive the Chicken Coupe up onto it. My eternal gratitude to Bob Comeau!!!

Kevin Rowland, of R&J Mobility, Independence, OR, made the necessary adjustments to the trailer so the Chicken Coupe could load and ride easier. The enclosed "tool-box" on the front of the trailer, gave me "bill-board" space!

The R&J Mobility sign was the only sponsor PAINTED on the Chicken Coupe! (Note: the feathers hanging from the dash-mounted hand-brake... we used the chicken theme throughout the car.)

April 1993 Ronnie Rowland watches as brother, Kevin welds on the new seat braces that Ronnie made. Doc was going faster now, and the G-force was causing the seat to sway back, pulling Doc's foot off the gas pedal! R&J solved the problem!
