Welcome to the official Web Page of the Dockriders. Founded almost five years ago, this riding group, not a club, but a social riding group, would ride through-out the City of Los Angeles (Mostly at the beach) and the surrounding areas. They would start from the parking lot at Dock 52, (Hence the name.) in Marina del Rey. The name was coined by Topgun during a conversation with d'Editor. The group liked it and it became official. We went out and brought yellow jerseys from Kucharick and matching hat. (Wow, and we got a deal. Thanks Bernie!) Some thought we had that bumble bee look.
So every Sunday at 8:00 am (We still meet there today.) we would meet at Dock 52, do all the bike stuff to get ready and head either north or south. We are more of a social order, unlike Novices, we don't have bad habits and there is no need to hammer (Go very fast and sweat.) to and from our destination. We stop, have lunch, sight-see, celebrate a birthday or two, and then head back to our cars.
In the beginning, it was the core group (About 5 or 6 of us.) that would hang out together and we became the framers of our DockRiders' rules and regulations. That helped make our adventures a fun one, and the people that rode together, help made it a safe and enjoyable ride. They do non-bike things like; video night, carbo-load, cinema night and night rides. A lot of DockRiders days and nights. You can't find better company on two wheels.
So come join us first by checking out our web site, then, come join us at Dock 52, "Where all we love is rollin..." |
