My dear devoted wife bought me a copy of this just before my first junket to the Popular Culture Association conference, where it served me well.  PCA is a group of about 68 million academics who write about such pressing issues as the abiding significance of boy bands and the ideology of men's fashion socks. Certainly more spiritual were the discussions in the book of "Theologically Correct Condoms" and Paul's autobiographical account, "I Snorted Cocaine with the Pope." And there's nothing like hard-edged political reportage like "An Interview with Nancy Reagan" and "A Sneak Preview of Richard Nixon's Memoirs."

This page contains a subscription offer for Krassner's The Realist, but he ceased publication at the turn of the millenium. But here's the sort of editor Krassner was: when I subscribed, I wrote a note suggesting I could write him a spoof of philosophy conferences, and he sent me back a tiny typed note encouraging me to send him something as long as it was "phunny."  I never did.
