WEEKLY COMMENTARY BY : SHAWN WESTBROOKS ( 6-11-01)
I have a theory about why McVeigh was the first federal prisoner who has been executed in several decades, and it has nothing to do with the number of people he killed....it also explains why anti-death penalty liberals are now pro-death penalty when it comes to McVeigh........

McVeigh bombed a FEDERAL building, the federal government being the institution of Liberals, their religion...

McViegh had the "wrong" political views. You don't see the media and liberals cheering for left-wing terrorists to be executed. A perfect example is the Unibomer..Remember how media reports on the Unibomber changed overnight once the "Unibomber Manifesto" was published, in which he justified his bombings with liberal causes such as "environmentalism and anti-industry"? The unibomber went from a terrorist to a misguided political activist in the eyes of the media as soon as they realized he was "one of them", a fellow Liberal...

I would bet all the tea in China, that when McVeigh was caught, if he would have declared, "I bombed this building to call attention to global warming," not only would he have never seen the death penalty, but the major news networks would probably have weekly interviews from McVeight's cell in prison, helping him promote his views.

It's just like the sniper who was shooting abortion doctors. Serial killers who pick policemen, Christians, children, businessmen, etc. as their targets get only local news coverage, maybe a one time mention in the national news. But, if someone is shooting abortion doctors, or some other Liberal icon, it's national network news and you make the FBI's most wanted list.

Seriously, I find it disgusting that as a Police Officer, if I'm killed in the line of duty, the best I could hope for is a state-wide teletype and a $1,000 crime stoppers award in an effort to find my killer, but if I aborted babies for a living and was shot, the FBI, CIA, Interpol, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, New Zealand Highway Patrol, etc. backed up with a United Nations reqard of $100 million would be called into action to find my killer.

The moral to this story; If you decide to become a murderer, you better justify your actions with a "Politically correct" cause.  Don't get me wrong, McVeigh's actions certainly warrant the death penalty, I just find the hypocrisy of the media and liberals very interesting, Any thoughts???....
