EAST TEAM STATS FOR FEBRUARY 2002
During the month of February 2002, the East Team of District 5 Probation and Parole compiled the following data:

CASES/CASELOADS: The East team has 714 active Probation/Parole/ and Interstate cases. There are now 9 Probation Officers with an average caseload of 79.3 cases per Officer.  The "High" cases are again in Ponca City with 97 and the low is again in Perry ( serving all of one county and pieces of 3 others) of 64. During the last several months Officers have been diligent in utilizing case reducing methods to lower the growing caseloads. These methods include: Mandatory Termination; Advance Termination; Court ordered release from supervision; and the Administrative caseload relief valve. Parole cases continue to grow and the recent inclusion of Community Sentencing cases will again raise caseloads and Workloads..The East Team opened (35) cases and closed (33) this month, making our growth 1.7%. This is the smallest growth in over Six months.

INVESTIGATIONS/ASSESSMENTS: (8) Pre Sentence Investigations; (6) Delayed Sentence Investigations; and (10) Interstate Investigations were completed this month.  (13) Offenders were DNA'ed  and (1) registered as a Sex Offender. (39) LSI's  and (43) Substance Abuse Assessments were completed.

OFFENDER EMPLOYMENT: 583 Offenders would be considered "self-supporting". This is   81.6%  of all Offenders on our caseloads. (400) are Full-Time employed.  (59) have Part-time employed. (61) are Students supported by parents/grants/student loans/ and or part time work. (42) are Disabled and (21) are Retired , drawing Social Security or Pension.

TREATMENT/PROGRAMS: (69) Offenders are involved in Programs. (8) Offenders are currently in In-Patient Substance Abuse treatment programs and (27) are attending Out-Patient services. (36) others are involved in Education or other improvement programs. (91) Offenders were UA'ed this month with (21) Positive for Drugs.

ARRESTS/REVOCATIONS:   ( 8) Offenders were arrested this month for committing new Felony/Misdemeanor crimes. Since our Success/Failure rate is based on "any" Offender who is arrested for a new crime is considered a "Failure".  This month , our Failure rate is 1%.......................................................

SUCCESS RATE:   OUR OVERALL SUCCESS RATE IS 99% THIS MONTH.....

COMMENTS:   A RECENT 2001 ANNUAL REPORT FROM COMMUNITY SENTENCING INDICATES THEIR SUCCESS RATE IS 95%......I CHALLENGE THEIR STATS...AND YOU SHOULD TOO.....THEIR COSTS PER OFFENDER IS NOW OVER $2,000 PER OFFENDER AND GROWING.  OUR COST IS $687 PER OFFENDER....OFFENDERS IN THE CSD PROGRAM ARE "NOT" CONSIDERED "fAILURES " IF THEY COMMIT NEW CRIMES, THEY ARE JUST TERMINATED FROM THE PROGRAM....IS THIS RIGHT???? IS THIS ACCURATE????? NO!!!  THE PEOPLE OF OKLAHOMA ARE BEING PLACED IN GREAT "PUBLIC DANGER" BY THIS COSTLY AND INEFFECTIVE PROGRAM.  TREATMENT OF OFFENDERS IS "IMPORTANT". "EMPLOYMENT" OF OFFENDERS IS IMPORTANT. CLOSE MONITORING OF OFFENDERS IS IMPORTANT TO INSURE "PUBLIC SAFETY". CSD OFFENDERS ARE NOT "SUPERVISED" BY ANYONE. HOME VISITS AND MONITORING ARE GENERALLY NOT REQUIRED.  STATE PROBATION AND PAROLE OFFICERS CONTINUE TO GIVE YOU, THE TAXPAYER, THE "BEST" DEAL IN PUBLIC SAFETY FOR OFFENDERS WHO ARE GRANTED PROBATION OR PAROLE. WE WORK HARD TO INSURE YOUR SAFETY..............................
