Westwood Public Schools

Performing Arts Department

James Giurleo, Director

The Westwood Education Foundation is sponsoring a concert by the New England Philharmonic Orchestra Monday, December 12, 2005 in the Westwood High School auditorium starting at 7:30 PM.

The orchestra, under the direction of Richard Pittman, is made up of professional and amateur musicians who are committed to playing the best music of the past and the present.  The NEP has been selected to receive a 2005 ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming. This is the sixth time that the NEP has won this prestigious award.

The orchestra will perform traditional and contemporary pieces from their annual December Family Concert.  One piece will feature piano soloist Jung Eun Yoon, the eighteen year old winner of the orchestra’s Young Artists competition. The music has been selected to appeal to young audiences. (see program below)

This concert is provided to give Westwood students already involved in the school’s instrumental music program the opportunity to hear and see a full symphony orchestra perform right here in Westwood.  Music teachers have begun to prepare the students for this unique experience and all students have been encouraged to attend.  The concert is free.  All students in grades 3 through 8 must be accompanied by an adult.  Due to the limited seating, we ask that no more than one adult per family attend.  Students from more than one family may be accompanied by one adult.  Students must sit with their adult companion. The concert will last one hour with no intermission.

The form at the bottom of this notice should be completed and returned to your child’s music teacher by December 2, 2005. By reserving seats, we can monitor attendance and ensure that all six hundred seats of the high school auditorium will be filled
