The Westwood Education Foundation is
sponsoring a concert by the New
England Philharmonic Orchestra Monday, December
12, 2005 in the
The orchestra, under the
direction of Richard Pittman, is made up of professional and amateur musicians
who are committed to playing the best music of the past and the present. The NEP has been selected to
receive a 2005 ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming. This is the sixth time
that the NEP has won this prestigious award.
The orchestra will perform
traditional and contemporary pieces from their annual December Family
Concert. One piece will feature piano
soloist Jung Eun Yoon, the eighteen year old winner
of the orchestra’s Young Artists competition. The music has been selected to
appeal to young audiences. (see program below)
This concert is provided to
give Westwood students already involved in the school’s instrumental music
program the opportunity to hear and see a full symphony orchestra perform right
here in Westwood. Music teachers have
begun to prepare the students for this unique experience and all students have
been encouraged to attend. The concert
is free. All students in grades 3
through 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
Due to the limited seating, we ask that no more than one adult per
family attend. Students from more than
one family may be accompanied by one adult.
Students must sit with their adult companion. The concert will last one
hour with no intermission.
The form at the bottom of this
notice should be completed and returned to your child’s music teacher by
December 2, 2005. By reserving seats, we can monitor attendance and ensure that
all six hundred seats of the high school auditorium will be filled
