In the heart of Balkan Peninsula on the mountainous region, the autonomous Ilirida was born.  On March 24, 1990 in the village of Shipkovica near Tetova, the Albanian democratically elected members of the Skopje Assembly, and the initiative of other Albanian activists declared the political autonomy. This autonomous state was called Ilirida.  The autonomy was announced in front of 1000 people.

The autonomous state of Ilirida was created to protect innocent people from the barbaric actions of Slavic Terrorists that did massacres in Croatia and later in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The massacres that history did not remember, but it will remember. In order to avoid a massacre from the Yugoslavian Peoples Army while moving its equipment and killing machinery from Macedonia, Albanians felt responsible to announce this autonomy. At the same date and time, the Serbian declared independent Republic of Krahina in Croatia.
Ilirida  is located southeast of Europe, on the border of ancient Daradania, a large province of Illyrian civilization.  The capital of ancient Dardania was Skupi or today Shkupi (Skopje). The capital of Ilirida was chosen Shkupi. In the territory of Ilirida,  1 450 000 people live from whom 80% are indigenous Albanians.

This autonomous state did not live for long. Was this declaration of this autonomy  an initiative of the Macedonia Government and Albanian elected members of parliament to show to the Greek government that this is not Hellenic territory; or was this autonomy only to prepare the people to avoid any possible attack and massacre from the Yugoslavian Peoples Army?! However, the Albanians nor the  Slavic Macedonians did not proceed with this autonomy.
