The s tournaments 2003

The cool dudes behind www.tulliathen.com stepped in and rescued the arrangement of the last Fanta Open tournament 2003. We are all very thankful for that. But not so thankful that I and Helland did not beat them considerably in the first match of the day. Tulliathen were the (very) proud winners of the Rjukan tournament last weekend so I was looking forward to show them and the rest of the world that I am perfectly capable of winning if I just have a little bit of luck and a very good partner on my side. And that was excactly what I had. And when I, in addition to the above mentioned factors, played better and better during the match, and thanks to whoever is worth thanking for that because I did not play very good in the beginning of the game, which resulted in a quick 2-5 lead forTulliathen, the cool dudes, which had not practiced much since they won in Rjukan, had not, to be honest, a chance. The problem, if there is one, is not that the previous sentence is whithout logical syntax, because it is perfectly correct and logical (read through it again and you will see). The problem was that I didnt play very good in the bronze final. We won both our pool games and the quarter final rather comfortable. In the semi final we played againt the famous Granson brothers, and I think they would have written on their website, if they had the interest of updating it more often, that they won the semi final rather comfortable. And I am the first to admit that they would have been right about that.

In the bronze final I played not good at all. I played so bad that I caught myself thanking, whoever is worth thanking for it, that there are 8 months left to the 2004 season. So I got another 4th place and 35 well deserved ranking points.

At the moment I am ranked as th 31st best beachvolleyball player in the Kingdom of Norway. I am not sure how to interpret my ranking. Am I the best of the really bad players or am I the worst among the mediocre players? You tell me.

Mixed
After a good night's sleep it was time for the real highlight of the weekend, the s annually mixed tournament. This year I had teamed up with Vibeke Andersen. Mixing her never ending enthusiasm with my never ending dirty tricks seemed to be a winning combination. We did well. Actually we did so well that suddenly we found ourselves in the middle of a semi final against Asta and Nils. We lost after hard fighting and numerous attempts of cheating. Nils and Asta later won the final but that did not help us much at that moment.
It was time for another bronze final. Which we won! It took us three sets, a lot of foul play, fighting and manipulating the referee and accidently passing strangers, but in the end we won thanks to a heroic effort from Vibeke which recieved 99 % of the serves. In the third set it rained and rained but both I and Vibeke had a very good time and the rain and cold weather did not affect us very much in the long run.
