COLLECT CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS from all Campbell products as well as Franco-American, Pace, Pepperidge Farm, Prego, Swanson and V8 products. Bring them to meetings or contact Mary Counihan for pick up. TAKE OLD EYEGLASSES to the Bloomfield Twp. Library (corner of Lone Pine and Telegraph Road) or bring them to a meeting for pick up. SEEDLINGS - * Participate in their main fundraiser, a yearly Bowl-a-thon in March. Need bowlers who raise pledges and enjoy a fun day with door prizes and raffles. * Need help with book binding and large group mailing on a regular and occasional basis. ROPARD Children's Low Vision Resource Center - The Center's dream is for every parent to leave with an aid for teaching their blind child . Parents appreciate these aids more than anything else. Instructions for these projects are available through Mary Counihan. * Need sewers to make smiley-face mitts and contrast blankets. * Need woodworkers to make work trays with raised edges so that toys and other instructional items remain in a confined space while the child is working. * Need crafters to make texture boards using various household items for the child to explore by touching. FOUNDATION FIGHTING BLINDNESS Donate items in early fall for their annual Vision of Hope dinner and auction in October - small and large auction items are needed! Consider attending this fun even where many bargains can be found at the auction. PENRICKTON CENTER FOR BLIND CHILDREN * Need volunteers weekly, monthly and for special events. * Work varies and includes taking down holiday decorations, cleaning toys once a week or occasionally sorting donated pop cans or stuffing envelopes. LEADER DOGS FOR THE BLIND * Need loving homes to raise and socialize puppies from six weeks to one year of age so they are ready to become leader dog companions. * Need dog walkers who can make a 3 month commitment of two hours per week from 10am-12pm or from 12pm-2pm. * Help with fundraising mailings throughout the year. RECORDING FOR THE BLIND * Need volunteer readers to make tape recordings at home and mail back. Minimum commitment is 4 hours per week. * Need office help to open tapes, log them, make labels and run duplicate master tapes. LIONS CLUB OF BIRMINGHAM 10K RUN (no website available, contact Mary Counihan) * Need hospitality volunteers and participants on the day of the run held in late September. |
